The development would likely add around 200 cars to traffic congestion in Cooroy

Congestion in Cooroy from high-medium density development

Construction of well over a hundred one or two bedroom dwellings at 62 Lake Macdonald Drive over a 5 year period would generate potentially hundreds of cars to Cooroy's struggling road network. Due to the railway line, Cooroy is a split town. So many more cars would congest the Dianella Court - Wilgee Court -Lake Macdonald Drive intersection AND OTHER PINCH POINTS IN TOWN. The worst of these corners are State problems, seemingly beyond Council's influence.

Amendments currently proposed to the Noosa Plan by Noosa Council (not the State Government) require minimal car parking, and likely spill parked cars into the surrounding low density streetscapes. This could turn surrounding streets into densely packed parking areas which could become unsafe for children to play in.

The town of Cooroy would face unsufferable congestion at peak times. It is already difficulty finding a car park in town at most times of the day. Cooroy has an ageing population and town infrastructure including medical services is overstretched.

It is unavoidable that Cooroy will face the same type of development pressures as other parts of South East Queensland. Everyone understands this. The present issue is about the scale of development and fitness for place. We demand good town planning that balances the needs of everyone and sensibly considers the serious impacts as well as benefits.
