Existing residents would lose the peaceful enjoyment of privacy in their own homes
The site is in a quiet low residential area. Residents are concerned about loss of privacy and road safety
Council have indicated that development at 62 Lake Macdonald Drive would permit at least 120 dwellings and a busy roadway, separated from existing low density residences by only a thin buffer zone.
The presence of a busy road only metres from existing backfences poses an unacceptable risk of property damage and risk to life in the event of a traffic incident on the new road. This is simply unacceptable.
Amendments currently proposed to the Noosa Plan would permit dwellings with minimal onsite recreational areas or car parking. This would encourage housing complex residents and cars into surrounding streets.
The site is on the side of a hill. Even at two storeys and set back from the existing boundary, tenants would have a downward view into existing yards in the Dianella Court / Viola Place precinct, and vice versa. Since the proposed development has over 5 times the density of adjoining Dianella Court / Viola Place housing, this would create a very large number of neighbours and permanently spoil the character of the north western side of Cooroy.
